This book is about a girl named Isabel Feeney. She wants to become a reporter. Not many women were reporters, but one famous reporter is a woman named Maude Collier. She and Isabel become friends. Here’s how it all started: Isabel was selling newspapers at a corner. A woman named Miss Giddings always bought a paper from Isabel. After she bought one, Miss Giddings met up with a guy named Charles. He was a gangster. When Isabel saw them, she saw that they were arguing. When they both turned the corner, Isabel heard a gunshot. When she went to go see what happened, she saw Miss Giddings next to a gun and a dead body. The police eventually came and questioned Miss Giddings and put her in jail. Isabel plans to find out who the murderer was and stop him. This is when she meets the famous reporter, Maude Collier. Since Isabel needed help, she went to find Maude. She knew where she worked at so she went to the Tribune. Then she and Maude had a talk over some pie at a diner. After the talk, she agreed to help Isabel get Miss Giddings get out of jail. A part I liked was when a gunshot rang out and Isabel saw a dead body. There was blood everywhere. I like this book because it’s mysterious, adventurous, and has murder. I rate this book five stars.
