I’m Cool!
Kate and Jim McMullan write all the I’m series books. I have most of them like “I’m Dirty, I’m Brave, I’m Mighty, I’m Fast, and I Stink.” This book is what it is like on the ice rink and it is seen through the eyes of the Zamboni. I love that the Zamboni is described as a blade picking, ice shaving, snow-eating, water-spraying, slush-slurping, towel-dragging, triple-tank truck. That is what makes these series of books so great…all the descriptive words to describe the transportation vehicles. I love how the words are written like someone is yelling because they are mostly big letters and in all caps. This story is about how the Zamboni is racing against the clock to get the ice smooth and ready to go for the big game. Zamboni’s are slow like a turtle, will he make it in time? My favorite part is the page where they show how the Zamboni moves around and around, and around and around till the whole rink is S-m-o-o-t-h as glass. I loved looking at the way the Zamboni needs to go around to clear the ice.
