If you were me and lived in… Australia: A Child’s Introduction to Cultures around the World (Volume 8)

This book is so boring. It tells you about things that are in Australia, but it doesn’t talk about kangaroos, or animals, or zoos, or anything but you, which is a very boring thing to talk about. You call your father, “Daddy,” just like in America. You would shop with Australian dollars. Their names for boys and girls are names that people have in America too. Australia is very much like America, but it is different in some ways. You call your mother,“Mummy,” and you might go swimming in the coral reef that surrounds Australia. I think it’s the biggest in the world and has lots of fish and coral that are very pretty. People play cricket, and they barbecue, but they call it a “Barbie.” I don’t like the pictures very much, because some of them look very creepy, and it’s creepy how you call your mother “mummy.” It would make sense if you lived in Egypt and your mother was dead, but… it’s still a very strange name to call your mother. I think it would be a little different to live in Australia, but not very much. But I wouldn’t call my mother “Mummy.”
