If You Plant a Seed
A bunny and a mouse plant some seeds of cabbage, carrots, and tomatoes, and the seeds grow up into cabbages, carrots, and tomatoes. Then some birds come over and want some of the vegetables, but the rabbit doesn’t want to share and he and the mouse get in a fight with the birds. But then the mouse gives a tomato to the birds, and the birds bring a bunch more seeds of all different kinds, and they grow them together into a great big garden that they share.
This book is trying to teach you that if you are nice to others they will do nice things to you, and if you’re rude to others they will be rude to you. It says that if you plant a seed it will grow—seeds of cabbage and carrot and tomato or kindness or selfishness. That is a really good lesson, and the pictures show how the animals learn that lesson. The animals had good expressions and they are very cute! My favorite picture is where the mouse and bunny are waiting for their seeds to grow, but my mom’s favorite is when all the birds are wanting some food!
