I Won a What?
The boy wants a pet, but his parents say he can’t have anything scaly, feathery, or furry. That changes when they go to the fair. His parents say he can have whatever he got at the goldfish place. He won at the goldfish booth, but the person at the goldfish booth said he didn’t win a goldfish, he won Nuncio – a whale! His parents aren’t happy, but they take the whale home. The boy loves the whale, but his parents – not so much. So the boy gets the whale to help out around the house, then the parents decide they love the whale too. So they all live happily ever after.
I like how the illustrations look. I think it is fun how Nuncio sings like a musical cow. This book was a little surprising at the end because I thought that the parents were going to make the boy get rid of the whale, but I was glad they didn’t. You never know if it will be a story where the parents will go along with the boy or if they will make him be practical like they are.
