I Wanna Be a Cowgirl
I Wanna Be a Cowgirl is a pretty picture book for kids who dream of riding horses. The rhyming story is about how a person plays pretend games and wants to grow up to be a cowgirl. The pictures show the girl and her cute, fluffy dog imagining that her stick horse is a real horse and a jump rope is a roper’s lasso. It’s funny when she takes a bath in a plastic swimming pool because she pretends that she’s taking a bath in the creek like a cowboy in dirty water.
I like the drawings because they actually look like watercolor with crayon. The last painting shows a dream in the West where the girl rides a real horse with a flying mane and tail, and she wears a Western outfit: a shiny, red hat, boots, spurs, and chaps. Even her dog wears a bandana! This book makes me want to ride a horse, too! This is a good bedtime book for parents and kids who like pretend play and imagination.
