I Walk with Vanessa: A Story About a Simple Act of Kindness

This book has no words in it, which made it quite interesting. I had to pay attention to faces and stories to follow what was going on.

It is about a new girl in school who is treated poorly by a mean boy on her way back home. Another girl sees what happens but does not say anything. Her friends are not interested in doing anything about it, so she goes home all sad. She keeps thinking about that girl, who is also in her house all alone and sad.

The next morning she rushes to the girl’s house and invites her to walk together to school. She introduces the girl to more kids, and they all walk together. Soon there are a lot of kids walking together to school, and the new girl is just one of them.
I liked this book because it talks about being kind to other kids. I would have said something to that mean boy, though! Like that he was a brat or that his screaming face looked like he had a mustache and no mouth. It is not nice to treat people like that. It’s like being a bully.
