I See a Cat
I See a Cat is a great short book. It’s about a dog that sees a cat, a bird, a fly, a squirrel, mice, a bee, and a boy. Then the dog goes with the boy to the park and chases a squirrel up a tree. Even though it’s called I See a Cat, the dog barks at the squirrels but not at the cat, who only appears on the first and last pages (and on the cover). This little dog reminds me of our dog, who also loves to bark at squirrels.
The dog tells the story. It is easy to read along with the pictures even when you don’t really know the words because there are only ten words in the whole book. The dog sees a new animal on each page, so you can look at the picture and read the new word. The illustrations are very funny and show the dog’s personality. If kids like dogs, they will enjoy the illustrations, because the dog character reacts to the six different animals and the boy in the story. This is a good book for children who like funny pictures and are just learning to read.
