I Don’t Want to Go to School!
I Don’t Want to Go to School! is the story of a little boy who is getting ready to go to school, but doesn’t want to because he feels kind of scared. He tells his mom at the beginning of the book what he has heard about school and why he doesn’t want to go. He talks about things like the weather and the teachers. His mom reassures him that he will have fun while he’s there and that nothing he’s said is true. The boy then realizes what he’s actually upset about and asks him mom if she’ll come to school with him. His mom says some nice, calming words to make him feel better, and then the boy feels better about starting school.
When I was in preschool, I think I felt the same way as the boy in the book. The author did a good job of helping me to understand the boy’s feelings and to remember how I felt when I was his age. For kids starting in preschool or kindergarten that are afraid to leave their parents, this book will be good for them.
