How to Survive Middle School and Monster Bots

Howard is a super science genius. Most of the book shows him getting picked on by his brother and a bunch of bullies at school. The bullies seem to think it’s fun to pelt him with snowballs. What’s a science genius to do? Build robots, of course. Especially when there’s a robot-making contest going on. Howard knows he can win, especially if he uses his special monster goo. But are the side effects of the monster goo more than Howard, and the rest of the people at Dolley Madison Middle School, can handle?

I don’t really like to read about people being bullied, and that was more than half the book, so it really took a lot to get to the later parts that I enjoyed more—like dancing robots and prombies (girls that are way too excited for the upcoming dance). I did like the ending all right, but it took too long for me. If you’re someone who enjoys reading about people getting hit by snowballs, or maybe you appreciate that it raises awareness about bullies, you might enjoy this book.
