How to Catch a Leprechaun
This book is about a leprechaun who comes into different houses spreading bad luck and messing everything up. He escapes every trap that the people set. They want to capture him to make him stop destroying everything and they want to get his pot of gold. But it never works. In the end, the book asks you to design a trap to catch the leprechaun for next year.
Children of all ages will like this book because it doesn’t have very long words and on each page there’s at least one rhyme. It’s also very funny. Older kids will love the detailed pictures and the action. I like this book because the illustrations are very colorful and the traps are very creative. It’s like you can see what’s just happened and what’s about to happen. In a house with lots of robot traps, you can see a hole in the wall with the leprechaun running away and there are lots of broken robots everywhere.
I really like a picture where a girl is launching stuffed unicorns at him. She tied a ribbon to her bed and is using it as a slingshot, but in the corner you can see the leprechauns’ hat in his hand as he runs away. This is a great excitement-filled book!
