Griselda Snook’s Spectacular Books

Fall, and then Halloween, will be here before we know it! Griselda Snook’s Spectacular Books will help get you in the spirit! A young boy named Henry is walking through town when he finds a key that belongs to local bookstore owner Griselda Snook’s store; Henry doesn’t believe that he’s much of a reader, but he agrees to look around.

The store opens and the customers are what scary stories are made of! Each customer finds a specific book they enjoy, which helps Henry realize that there is hope for him to find one, too. Dragons, witches, mummies, vampires, Frankenstein’s monster, etc., don’t scare Henry, but instead, help him feel comfortable and have a great time!

I enjoyed this story because I like books, and it was fun to see the different types that the monsters picked and enjoyed. This is a feel-good story and not scary at all; the colors in the illustrations are “Halloweenie” with bright orange, purple, and black that draw your eyes to the pages, and there are many things to see on each page. Readers of all ages will enjoy the story, especially if you already like books and Halloween!
