Grandad’s Island

Grandad’s Island is about a little boy named Syd who goes to see his grandfather. He follows his grandad into the attic and through a large metal door. They find themselves on a ship and sailed across the sea until they arrives at an island. They find an old shake and turn it into a great tree house, they explore the island and even go swimming. The island is perfect. Grandad tells Syd that he will be staying on the island. Syd will miss his grandad very much. Syd sails back home by himself.

When I first saw the cover of Grandad’s Island, I thought it looked like a fun book because the illustrations are bright and colorful. I was sad that Syd had to leave the island without his grandfather. My mom told me that is means that Grandad had died and he is in a better place. I am still sad that Syd misses his Grandad but I like that they got to explore the island together. This would be a good book for kids who have a grandparent who have died.
