Gorilla Loves Vanilla
Sam Sundae runs an ice cream shop on Jelly Bean Street. When he opens his shop one morning, five animals burst in the door. They all want different flavors. All five flavors don’t seem like they would be very tasty. For instance, the chicken asks for a cone full of worms. Even though their flavors are disgusting, Sam is able to give them exactly what they want. While they are still eating their ice cream, a gorilla comes in. He says he doesn’t want anything disgusting, he just wants vanilla. Sam starts putting scoop after scoop after scoop of ice cream with sprinkles and jelly beans in a big cone. All the other animals agree that their flavors aren’t as delicious as his. In the end, they find out that he wants to share it with them.
I like this book because it rhymes, and it repeats a part of the rhyme on each page. I like looking at what all of their different flavors look like. The one that looks especially odd is the mouse’s, who wants ice cream that tastes and looks like blue cheese. This book is great for all ages because it has lots of pictures and a lot of little things to see and read. I think the moral of this story is that the best way to go is simple and sharing is the best.
