Give and Take
There was a farmer who grew apples. One day, he went to pick a basketful. But a man dropped out of the branches. His name was Take. On the way home, the farmer passed a neighbor that had a bunch of pumpkins. She said the farmer could have some. Take said, “Take all of them!” So the farmer did, but he didn’t like pumpkin soup. The next day, the farmer got some more apples, and a little man called Give came out and sat on them. They passed a neighbor who farmed pigs, and Give said, “Give all your apples to the pigs!” So the farmer did, and went home with nothing to eat and nothing in his head. On the third day, the farmer went to see if the apples were ripe, and sure enough they were. Just then he heard a rustle sound. Take and Give were wrestling about who was more important; sometimes Take was on the top, and sometimes it was Give. This gave the farmer an idea.
I like this book because it’s funny. It’s happy and funny, because sometimes taking is better, and sometimes giving is.
