Gidget the Surfing Dog: Catching Waves with a Small but Mighty Pug

Gidget the Surfing Dog is about a lady named Alecia who adopts a dog named Gidget. Gidget is a pug. Gidget isn’t like other pugs, she is hyper with a lot of energy. Gidget goes everywhere with Alicia. In the wintertime, Gidget rides down a snowy hill on a sled. In the summertime, she rides on a stand-up paddle board with Alicia. Then Gidget gets to try surfing. Gidget goes to a surfing competition, and there are so many other dogs there. Gidget loves surfing, but something goes wrong. Will Gidget still be able to do what she loves?

I really loved Gidget the Surfing Dog because it is based on a true story and about a dog. I loved that all the illustrations were real photographs so I could see what Gidget really looks like and what a surfing dog looks like. I liked that there were also facts in the book. I learned about the different types of waves and how waves are made. I would recommend Gidget the Surfing Dog to kids who like dogs, have their own pet dogs, and who like to learn about real-life stories.
