Get Lost, Odysseus!
Get Lost, Odysseus is a book about Hades retelling the “true” story of The Odyssey. Hades likes Odysseus because he isn’t really like other mortals. A minor goddess once asked if he wanted immortality and he said no. So when Poseidon got mad at Odysseus because he blinded his son, Polyphemus, he has to swear on the River Styx to not help him but Hades sneaks in the word directly. The first bad thing that happened to Odysseus was when he went to King Aeolus (who gave him the winds of the North, South, East, and West ). When they ran out Poseidon made Odysseus’s boats ( he had twelve ) veer to a cannibal giant’s island. When he got on the island and the giant people came and said they would give Odysseus and his crew dinner. Instead they wanted to eat them. After they figured out they were not going to feed them they ran and the giants threw rocks at eleven of the ships. The only ship left was Odysseus’s. This is only one of the mishap stories in Get Lost, Odysseus.
I would recommend this book to kids ( or adults ) who like mythology. It also is pretty action – packed.
