Genuine Sweet
Genuine Sweet is a “Wish Fetcher”: She can whistle down starlight and make other people’s wishes come true. The problem is that she is very poor, and she only has her grandma and her father, who is drunk most of the time. She tries to help her family by granting wishes in exchange for food or the help her family needs. But the people in the town start to dislike her because a lady in the town, Penny, had a grudge against Genuine’s mother, so she was trying to keep good things from happening to Genuine as well. Genuine has to try to find a way to overcome Penny’s grudges.
I think that this book was a good book of friendship, loyalty, and lots and lots of magic. It also had a good way of saying that if you don’t follow the rules, bad things may happen. Genuine learned some hard lessons but she was able to have some good consequences from them as well. The conclusion was very satisfying. Genuine is friendly and realistic (except that she has magic) and seems like a person who would be a very good friend. This is a sweet book that anyone would like!
