Geek Girl
Fifteen-year-old Harriet Manners is far from cool. In fact, she is entirely the opposite, according to the rest of her class. Who would have ever thought that Harriet, of all people, would be spotted by a modeling agent? Suddenly Harriet is thrust in front of thousands of cameras and cutthroat models, and she is far too awkward to survive. Or is she?
Geek Girl is fluffy. It’s a mindless read that is entertaining and charming. The plotline, although often times seems a bit far-fetched, is entertaining and heartwarming. Harriet is adorable, and her relationship with Annabelle is unexpected but refreshing. The relationship between Harriet and Nick seems a little forced, given that they hardly ever talk to each other, but it’s sweet. Despite the countless awkward moments that Harriet encounters, she remains a very likeable character throughout the novel. All the characters are entertaining, and the book is refreshing and funny. The end of the novel was surprising, and it sends a good message to the reader about appearances and personality. I definitely recommend this book.
