Fuchsia Fierce
Fuchsia Fierce has a shiny name, but she does not like to shine. She is shy and does not like to try new things. So her parents send her away to “Camp Confidence.” She decides she is not going to let camp change her, so she makes up excuses: that she’s hurt or sick or that she’s forgotten her stuff…so that she does not have to try anything new. But looking at the others, she realizes that everyone is having fun. So one night she participates in a game and finds out it is actually very fun. She decides to try new things, and every time she tries something new, she feels more confident. She learns that being small is sometimes helpful, and that it is okay being timid but that she can also be as courageous as a superhero. She learns that being herself is always okay. She really has become fierce.
This book was really fun. The pictures showing Fuchsia made me laugh, especially the ones showing the excuses she was making up. I did not understand why she was so scared of everything, but I was happy to see that she had become happier.
