Frostfire (The Kanin Chronicles)
It’s great to be in the world of the Trylle again. In the spin-off series we follow Bryn, who’s training to be a tracker. The night her life changes is when her long-time crush, Konstantin, tries to kill her father, leaving Bryn angry and ready to seek revenge. She comes into contact with Konstantin years later when he is, coincidentally, trying to get the same changeling as her. Well, it’s more like Konstantin is kidnapping him, so Bryn does what she is trained to do. Though, she doesn’t get to commit the revenge she initially wanted, and will have to wait until her priorities aren’t on saving the changeling kid. I enjoyed the story because Hocking writes such an imaginative world full of magic that it makes you wish it were real. The forbidden romance is perfect, and I’m left wondering if this will be turned into a love triangle. I know who I favor, though! Hocking fans will not be disappointed, not by a long shot. Bryn is a force to be reckoned with, and I look forward to watching her grow as a character.
