Frankie
The author of Treat, Ball, and more cute books, Mary Sullivan, presents: Frankie. Frankie is a fun-loving book for the whole family, especially for preschoolers. This great book is a short story about sharing. Frankie wants to use Neco’s toys, bed, and blanket, but Neco is not happy about the idea. So Frankie finds alternative items until he gets his own stuff. The dogs only start to share when Neco wants to play with Frankie’s stuffed frog. This implies one should only share when one gets something in return. I am sure that was not intentional, but it may be interpreted that way. Mary Sullivan did just as well on the illustrations as she did on the text. The cartoonish drawings show Frankie’s adoption, car, and home. The pictures express how the dogs are feeling through their body language. This book had ups and downs, but overall this is one of the cutest books I have ever had the pleasure of reviewing.
