Briana wants to get the star role in the school play. She wants the spotlight after four months of being almost anonymous. And she starts to fit in just before the auditions for Hamlet. She might even be starting to hit it off with Eric Riley. So when Briana doesn’t get the part of Ophelia and Skye Henderson, Eric’s ex-girlfriend, does, Briana numbly accepts the offer of being the “social media director.” But when Skye is killed, and Briana is moved up to understudy, people start to accuse Briana of being the murderer. Briana must find out who the culprit is before she too is targeted.
The suspense starts before we even reach MacHale, with talk of a corpse that recently had been found on school grounds. Sarah Charonne was a freshman when Briana’s mother was a senior. When she disappeared, everyone thought she had run away…until her body was discovered those many years later. Suspenseful from the start, everything leads up to an action-packed conclusion. The only clues to unraveling the mysteries—old and new—come from tweets by someone who calls himself Hamlet’s Ghost. It was an interesting enough read, but probably won’t become a favorite.
