Follow the Water: The Unbelievable True Story of a Teenager’s Survival in the Amazon by Ellen Cochrane is about a seventeen-year-old girl named Juliane who fell out of plane from 10,560 feet (two miles!) and survived with only a broken collarbone, deep cuts, and a spine injury, but she was alive which is very good in that kind of situation. Another thing that I love is that there are bits where it gives you information about the Ashaninka, the native people, also bullet ants, rainforest leaves, not flying mice (aka bats), bushmaster snakes (my personal fav). I’m someone who loves facts and information about animals and nature, so this was really interesting. She spent almost two weeks on her own, surviving in the biggest rainforest in the world! What put me in awe is that it was a true story and that she’s a real person. She wasn’t even an adult yet! At the back there is a how to become a scientist, which is awesome. This book has become one of my favorites, and I hope to read more stories by this author.
