Florette is a story about Mae, a girl who moves to the city but misses her garden. She doesn’t see any apple trees or birds. She draws a garden with chalk on the ground, and she stacks up boxes and colors them to look like a garden. Nothing works. Finally, she goes outside and what she finds is Florette, a giant glass greenhouse, filled with plants and animals. This gives her the idea. She finds a green seedling and plants it in her treasure jar. Her neighbors help her to grow more plants. Now, at last, Mae has her garden.

I absolutely love this story because plants are my favorite things. This colorful, amazing book is filled with them. I especially like the page with Florette. I try to spy birds through the window. Another page I like is Mae’s new garden, looking at all the kids with their plants. I would be exactly like Mae if I had to move to the city. I would miss the birds and plants. This book is good for everyone, especially people who are learning to read. The words aren’t too long, and the pictures are beautifully detailed. There is so much going on and new things to spy every time you read it. If you like plants, you’ll love this book.
