This story is about a boy in the first grade. He thinks that he did the most embarrassing thing in the whole world, at least according to a first grade student. So, now he wants to drop out of first grade. He thinks he will just make new friends, stay home for years, and maybe, when he is a teenager, get a job and work on his jump shot. He starts to realize he really will miss all his old friends. He really likes all the fun things he does with his “old” friends. But, his “old” friends laughed at him when he did the most embarrassing thing in the whole world. He thinks everyone will laugh at him forever. But, then his friend Tyler doesn’t laugh later while playing soccer, and even tells him he will drop out of school with him. I have done a lot of embarrassing things this year in first grade, so I know exactly how the little boy in the story feels. I felt the same way and wanted to drop out of school, too. I also know what it feels like to have really good friends, just like the boy in the story. Having great friends makes everything better, even when you do the most embarrassing thing in the whole world. I would definitely tell my friends to read this book. It made me laugh and I had an easy time relating to the main character.
