Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa: School Days is about a horse named Cocoa and his owner, Cowgirl Kate. There are two stories in this short book, but they are not new. They originally came out in 2007. I was hoping for new stories, but it was nice to revisit my old friends. In the first story, Cowgirl Kate goes to school. One day, she got off the school bus with a new friend named Jenny. When Cocoa sees Jenny, he thinks that Cowgirl Kate will forget about him and is sad. So Cocoa doesn’t join in their play. Cowgirl Kate thinks Cocoa is sick. When Jenny leaves, Cowgirl Kate checks on Cocoa and explains that school will not change her feelings toward Cocoa. She gives Cocoa a treat, and they are best friends again. In the second story, Cowgirl Kate is writing a report and Cocoa decides to help with the report. They go out into the yard and Cocoa shows what he can do while Cowgirl Kate writes it down because it was a report about horses.

The drawings are watercolors and not that detailed. I liked this book and it would be good for kids 5 to 7 or so.
