Every Stolen Breath
This book tells an enjoyable, fast-paced, suspenseful, action story
Lia is in pursuit of her father’s killer and finds herself in the middle of way more trouble than she imagined. A Swarm of ruthless teens has unleashed violence in future Chicago and is killing again. Lia, with the help of some friends, works to stop who is behind the Swarm and risks her life to find the truth behind her father’s death. Lia is a smart and determined protagonist who suffers from flashbacks, hallucinations, and asthma. Some of the characters are interesting but others somewhat flat or dealt with in a superficial manner so it is difficult to see their purpose in the story. The book has a terrific opening and grabs the reader’s attention right away. It has a really good plot that unfolds and develops and has some good twists along the way. Some of the story is a bit unbelievable and the ending is a bit abrupt. The writing is good but a bit inconsistent at times and maybe a bit repetitive. Overall, this was a pretty solid read that will have you cheering for Lia and feeling everything she experiences. This story will keep your attention and I recommend it for older teens and adults.
