Ernestine, Catastrophe Queen

The zombie apocalypse is coming, or at least that is what Ernestine and her stepbrother, Charleston, believe. They are even trying to raise zombies themselves so that they can get a head start. Ernestine is very prepared. She has created zombie survival kits and manuals on what to do, but no one at her school or even at the CDC is really taking her seriously. But now there are more important things to worry about when it looks like someone is trying to murder their landlord (and everyone else in the aging artist home that they live in). Ernestine has no one she can rely on but herself and Charleston, and they certainly have a mystery on their hands, as well as a zombie apocalypse.

Ernestine is such a fun character to read about; she is independent and fun and has a wild imagination. All of the people who live in the aging artist home are funny and crazy, especially the twin acrobats who are always practicing and wearing wild costumes. It’s also nice how well Ernestine and her stepbrother Charleston get along and work together–they are really there for one another.
