Elliott the Otter: The Totally Untrue Story of Elliott, Boss of the Bay
So, I was sent this children’s book, Elliot the Otter on accident, but I reviewed it anyway, and it was delightful! It is about Elliot, the otter who runs the bay. In his eyes, everything that happens within the bay is of his doing. All of the shipping and transports that come through the port must be overseen by Elliot himself. He has to direct traffic, oversee any “guests” (other fish) that might visit, and give signals to ensure that everything is done exactly the way that he wants it. I loved that this book is educational, and tells the goings-on of life in a bay, but had a really fun twist as it is told from an otter who thinks that he is running the show. The artwork is also great. It is brightly colored, and adds a fun, cartoony sense to the book, but in a really good way. There are a few pages, like the final page of the book, that are all one color in varying shades, and it just looks amazing. I highly recommend this book to all parents and children who want a fun and very well done read. It has the perfect mix of education and fun, and I loved it!
