This is a non-fiction book that talks about Egypt. The first topic they talk about is the Nile. The Nile is the only river in Egypt, it is also the longest river in the world! The Nile floods each year which helps farmers have nice moist soil. The third topic is the Suez and the sea. The Suez canal has a big job. It separates two continents, joins two seas, and maintains a connection between the east and west. Much of the world’s sea trade goes through the canal. The next topic is about the map of Egypt. There were two parts of Egypt: Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. In ancient Egypt the two parts were two different kingdoms that later united. The water lily (or lotus) symbolized Upper Egypt the papyrus plant symbolized Lower Egypt. The other topics are: With a Capital C, Celebrated Cities, Fit for Kings, Regal Trio, Buried Treasure, Prize from the Past, King Size, Peek into History, Art Smart, Play On, Time for Prayers, Time for Parties, Eat Drink and Make Spicy, Out with the Old, Need to Lead, There’s No Place Like Home, Crack the Code, Beasts or the Field, Cold-Blooded Creatures, and Creepy-Crawly Crowd. My favorite topic is cold blooded creatures because I like the reptiles.
