Dustrats: Or, The Adventures of Sir Muffin Muffinsson
Emma is a baby. Sir Muffin Muffinsson is a Persian cat. This book takes place in a house at night. The cat watches Emma’s dreams. Seven dustrats come from under Emma’s bed. They are funny, cute dust people. They are all wearing socks with holes in them. The cat tries to suck them all up with a vacuum. The dustrats are being silly in Emma’s dreams. My favorite dustrat swims in the bathtub with a shark, surrounded by the ocean. I like the scenery in the living room. It’s a fairytale forest. The garage makes bad things happen. Emma gets a bad dream. Will Sir Muffinsson get to Emma in time? Read the book to find out.
This is a picture book. I would give five stars for the pictures. The color of the first letter on each page matches the dustrat’s sock. There’s something from the last picture on the next page. The paintings and the stuffed toys are alive. The dustrats are good. Everyone is happier on the last page.
The first time I read the book, I didn’t think it made any sense, but after you’ve seen all the secrets in the book, when you read it slowly and take time to look at the pictures and the words, it makes sense. I’ll read more books by this author.
