Dirt
Yonder is a girl who stopped talking ever since her mother died. She has lots of problems with school, so she’s very happy when a Shetland pony from next door named Dirt comes to be her friend. Even though she doesn’t talk, he can still understand her. He listens to her and understands her. But when her neighbor who owns Dirt decides to sell him for horse meat, Yonder has to hide him in her house to save him. What follows next is a heartfelt story that will make you believe very strongly in friendship.
This book was very well written. Some people may be able to relate to it because they know what it is like to have an animal friend. Others may relate to it because they know what it is like to feel different or like they are not understood. Yonder’s friendship with Dirt helps her get over her sadness so she can save him. This book is sometimes funny, although it is also sad a lot of the time, but in the end, it will make you feel really good.
