I think that Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School is a great book!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School is about when Greg Heffley’s life is turned upside down when things get a little bit old school. Greg’s mom is starting a petition for no electronics for a weekend so things will be like they were when they were kids. Fortunately, she has not gotten enough signatures……………….yet. Then, Grampa moves in.

Grampa is Greg’s father’s father…………….. although he is not very fond of him. Grampa is always getting in trouble. He even had a party with all the women he met online (which is a TON!)! Now, they have to have him under constant video surveillance so they can watch his every move and so he doesn’t have another party while they are gone.

Greg decides to sign up for homework buddies after school and gets assigned to a kid named Frew. Frew is in third grade and he is literally a genius! Frew did Greg’s homework! He did what should have taken hours in minutes! Once, he even included an extra credit page to challenge himself. Unfortunately, Greg’s grades got so high, that he was put in an advanced class even though he didn’t know any of the stuff that they were teaching! That’s not even the worst part!

Greg’s mother finally got enough signatures for no electronics! So when Greg woke up, everything was off! Even his alarm clock! Now, things just go downhill for Greg. There is also a field trip to Hardscrabble Farms is coming up. Greg has heard a lot of bad things about it and so he doesn’t want to go but after some thinking, he decides to go……………..and he knows he is going to regret it.

At Hardscrabble Farms, there were a lot of weird and gross things like the stew made entirely of unfinished lunches! Greg and his cabin had lots of weird, wet, dirty, stinky, hot, dark, times and in the end, nobody ever wants to go back ever again in their entire lives! Not much of a happy ending but, whatever.

I think that this book was weird but in a good way. It was also very funny. I recommend this book for ages 8-12.
