Deep-Water Drama (Mermaid Kingdom)
I think that Mermaid Kingdom: Deep-Water Drama is a great book. It’s about the point of view of 3 mermaids. Their names are Shyanna, Rachel, and Cora and they just happen to be best friends.
The first story is about Shyanna. She’s turning 13 soon. That’s very important because when a mermaid turns 13, they get their legs and can go on land. The problem is that a big parade is on her birthday so no one pays attention to her. Not even her mom or her BFFS.
The second story is about Rachel. Besides Cora and Shyanna, Rachel has a best friend. His name is Owen and he lives on land unlike Rachel. Rachel is very upset because Owen has started to ignore Rachel as if he’s not friends with her any more. She doesn’t have the courage to talk to Owen. Even though that what she has to do.
The third story is about Cora. She’s on a swim team. They have a sea lion statue. The rubs it’s belly before every race for good luck. One day, the sea lion goes missing. So Cora goes out of her way to find it. She even goes to another kingdom!
I loved this book. It’s very interesting and easy-to-understand. This book would definitely appeal to kids younger than me, my age, and kids jst a little older that me. I recommend this book to kids ages 7-10.
