Deck the Malls!: An Early Chapter Book
The police don’t know what to think of Spiderman – whether he’s good or bad. Readers know that he’s on the side of good and doesn’t help the bad guys. But what about Peter Parker? In this version of his story, he’s a young kid when he’s bitten by a radioactive spider and becomes Spiderman. So is he like any other kid or is he supergood, especially when it comes to Christmas presents? Spiderman/Peter Parker has to fight Venom and his own selfishness. Who do you think wins?
Deck the Malls! by Mackenzie Cadenhead and Sean Ryan is an Early Chapter Book in the Marvel Super Hero Adventures series. Peter Parker is still a kid and is helped by his friend, Gwen Stacy, who fights as Spider-Gwen. Aunt May is around, too, taking good care of Peter. The story and drawings are a little scary, but not too bad. The way they draw the people is normal, but when they draw super heroes or bad guys, they have big heads and small bodies. That’s a little funny, but okay, I guess.
This book is pretty good and would be good for young readers, whether boy or girl. It’s not for beginning readers but those who are a little more advanced.
