Daniel Finds a Poem

Daniel knows every animal in the park. One day, Daniel finds a sign that he does not know. It says, “Poetry in the Park! Sunday!” He asks, “What is poetry?” A spider tells him that poetry is morning dew on a web. He asks different animals what poetry is, on different days of the week, and each of them tells him what poetry is to them. The last time he asks Owl, and Owl says it is moonlight on the trees and grass, and silent wings to take her wherever she wants to go. So on Sunday, Daniel wakes up and he has a poem. It is all the things the animals told him. In the afternoon he looks up at the sunset in the park, and he says that he thinks that looks like poetry.

I think this book is fun and very interesting to see all the different ways the things think of poetry. I really like the poem Daniel made up at the end. It makes me think about turquoise blue water with sun reflecting on it in the evening. It makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. I really like this book.
