Dance With Me
There was a little ballerina who lived in a music box. A little girl would open the box and dance with the ballerina to her music. But one day the little girl grew and didn’t have time to dance with the ballerina anymore. So the ballerina left her box to find someone else to dance with. She tried to dance with a bee, a sea turtle, and a leopard. But they didn’t want to dance with her. The ballerina got packed away in her jewelry box, until one day….
I really liked Dance with Me because I used to have a jewelry box with a ballerina who danced in it. I liked the illustrations and how, as she explores the bedroom, the animals she saw were not real animals, just toys or a backpack, but when she talks to them, they are real. I really like the way that the music notes are across the page when her jewelry box is playing music. I was surprised by the ending and it was my favorite part of the book.
I would recommend this book to little kids who love ballerinas or like to do ballet.
