Cultured Donuts: Take a Bite Out of Art History

Cultured Donuts isn’t a story, but is educational and teaches the reader about seventeen artists beginning with da Vinci and ending with Chloe Tyler. Each artist has a different style of drawing or painting, so to come up with a fun way of teaching about each one, the author combined their love of art with sweets- so Cultured Donuts happened. Each artist gets three short paragraphs about themselves, their style of art, and how they had an impact on the world, and then a bonus paragraph (a “delicious detail”) more about themselves as people.

I was excited to look at this book because, in my art class, the art teacher is teaching us about different artists and we are doing projects based on their styles. I noticed a few of the same artists, but lots of different ones. I think I’ll enjoy it more when I’m older with reading about the artists, but currently, I liked looking at the pictures and reading the last paragraph to learn some interesting things about the artists!
