Crying is Like the Rain: A Story of Mindfulness and Feelings

One day a boy heard from his mom that feelings are like the weather, so the boy said that if that’s true, then Crying is Like the Rain. The boy tells us how crying is like rain and how people react differently to people crying. He talks about how our feelings and the weather are the same. It is interesting when he says things like feeling ready to crack wide open like the ground during an earthquake or feeling red-hot anger growing like the lava in a volcano, ready to explode. I had never thought about how I feel being the same as different weather around me or the world. I like how even though our feelings can be big and scary, like storms and hurricanes, when we feel better, it makes everything better, too. I like looking at the pictures in the book because they are colorful. The book is easy to read and understand; I knew almost every word to read but had to have some of the feelings explained. This book would be good for kids who don’t feel happy all of the time.
