Comics Squad #3: Detention!
This book is a bunch of different comics about one topic: detention. Some of the authors are the same as for previous Comics Squad books.
In “Detention Disaster,” three kids get detention from the new science teacher, Mr. Crawford. They think they got detention from him because he’s bio-engineering rats to take over the school and they found out. This is a nice “Lunch Lady” mini-comic.
I didn’t like the “Cheating Death W/ Sisyphus” one. Sisyphus was kind of a brat. I think that it’s funny that Hades is the assistant principal of Olympian Heights High School. Was there a moral to that story?
In “Worse Than Detention,” you have to look after the kindergartners instead of detention. That looks worse than detention. I didn’t like this one. I don’t like when they don’t learn anything.
I really liked “Milo’s Journey.” I’d like it if Milo Valdez became a book series. Milo finds a blowup figure of himself in his desk, and the desk opens up to a faraway land.
“Too Nice!” is about a girl who tries to get herself into detention because she likes this boy who’s in detention. Could she not wait until he’s out of detention? She sees the light a little too late.
I liked this book less than the Lunch! and Recess! ones. I’ll read more Comics Squad books.
