A girl named Cody is very excited because her friend Spencer will be moving to the neighborhood for good. When he finally shows up, Cody is delighted. This is, after all, her best friend. But there is one problem. Spencer’s grandmother, who he will be moving in with, lives in a duplex. The Meens live on the other side. When the two Meen kids come to school, Cody realizes that their name describes them perfectly and they take over the porch and backyard of the duplex. One of the mysteries of the universe is that, by the end of the book, they are becoming friends.

This book is about courage, determination, and making friends. For example, when the Meens challenge Cody and Spencer to a fight, it isn’t easy for them to stand up for themselves – but they do. Also, this is one book in a series, so I can’t wait to read the rest. This book is recommended for readers young and old. It is easy to understand, but is a frank, unique, funny story that I’m sure everyone will enjoy.
