Cloudlanders is such a cool book. It is set in a futuristic world where what we know as the Earth no longer exists. However, some island people make a fascinating discovery of long-forgotten magic called a light stone. This light stone may be exactly what they need to escape the monsters of Earth and save them. The light stone rises their small island above the clouds.
Friends Curt and Flicker become scavengers to see what they can find on their unearthed island, when they see a flying object from “out there,” the world they used to live on, but there are many other dangers lurking. Will they be able to save their people while they are in the clouds?
The setting of this book is so cool, an island that has broken away from Earth and rose up. My favorite character is Kurt the eight-foot tall mushroom who is somewhat scared of their new home. This book has all kinds of fun elements, from fairies and monsters to gemstones and everything in between.
