Ted likes to play escape-the-room computer games. He’s good at it. Caleb is his friend, and he likes to draw. Isabel is a girl who likes to read. They are going to clean up a junkyard of a house owned by Great Uncle Ted. They hope to find treasure. When Ted gets home and opens his laptop, he finds a new escape-the-room game called “The Game of Ted.” It looks like Uncle Ted’s house. They realize that the junkyard of a house is a real escape-the-room game, and there may be some competition to find the treasure. The Game of Ted 1.2 is entering the hospital. I won’t tell you about 1.3, because I don’t want to ruin that for you. Read the book to find out.

I loved this book. I want to read it again lots of times. It’s not too scary. I learned about bonsai trees, some books to read, internment camps, the Japanese-American troop, and art taken as souvenirs during World War II. People my age, eight, would like this book. Some adults would like this book, too. It’s fun. I made it a challenge to guess the puzzles before the kids did. I did really good, actually. A real escape-the-room game would be fun.
