City of Bastards
Tillandra, House of Kent, is finally in the clear. She stopped her father in the West and is now living it up in Lightspeare with the protection of her best friend’s father, the king, and her boyfriend, Zell. Among all the luxury, Tilla is trying so hard to fit in, but it’s difficult when whispers are floating around that she’s a traitor, only in the capital to report back to her father. But soon, it becomes apparent that not even the capital of Lightspeare is safe, as she slowly uncovers a horrendous plot against the crown. Will Tilla be able to stop it? Or will her friends and her new home fall?
Shvarts does it again in his enthralling sequel to Royal Bastards. Tilla’s crude humor and antics constantly had me laughing, and I enjoyed watching her realize that being a royal in Lightspeare wasn’t who she was. The constant twists and turns had me hooked, and I didn’t expect several developments that left me shocked and thirsty for more. I look forward to Shvart’s next book and continuing to watch Tilla’s growth into the fierce young bastard she has proved to be.
