This story is about a bird called a godwit. It starts out in Australia. Then it has to fly and fly and fly for six days and nights until it rests and gets fat. Then it flies some more until it finds its home—a place to settle and make a nest. It made a nest but a fox stole most of the chicks, luckily one grew up. The godwit then flew and flew and flew back for nine days and nights until it gets back to where it started.

This book is interesting and fun. It is interesting how the birds can fly for so long, because I didn’t know that birds could fly for nine days and nine nights! You learn a lot about these birds, like where they live and what they eat, but the story doesn’t tell you that; you just learn that from the pictures, which are very pretty and interesting to look at. Another thing that is really cool is there’s a boy who dreaming about being able to fly. At the first he is in a wheelchair but by the end when the godwits come back he can run and play.
