Cheer Choice (Jake Maddox)
Cheer Choice is about a girl named Colette whose best friend Merida teaches their cheer routine to a different team after moving to a different school. The two teams are set to compete against each other, who should be allowed to use the cheer, and will Colette and Merida’s friendship survive this test? Short stories, such as this, are a great way to take advantage of reading time in class during the school day. This one is on my list of favorite short stories. I really liked the artwork in the book, it helped to bring the story to life and to help me visualize the characters. I liked the way the characters worked together at the end, to find a good solution that worked for everyone. I would recommend it to cheerleaders and girls who, like me, enjoy a good book. I give Cheer Choice 4 ½ stars. I feel that even for a short story, the story was a little too short, and it could have been developed a little bit more. I like this series by Mr. Maddox and will definitely be reading more.
