Charlie Whistler’s Omnium Gatherum: Campfire Stories and Adirondack Adventures
Charlie Whistler’s Omnium Gatherum by Philip Broughton is presented in the form of a scrapbook filled with information, drawings, poems, and stories by Charlie Whistler, a member of the fictional Whistler family.
I think that this book is not that interesting but to other people it might be. This book is made up as a diary with a bunch of entries and it is really not exciting although it does present a lot of information about knots and wilderness living and stories about historical figures. It is not quite a history book and not quite a how-to book but a compendium of both of those areas plus more. And because the entries are not in any order, it makes it easy to just pick up, open anywhere, and read for a bit. It is inspiring at parts, but overall it was not a book that I would want to pick up very often. This book would be okay for readers ages 9-11.
