Caveboy Dave: More Scrawny Than Brawny
Dave is a twelve-year-old cave boy. During Baby-Go-Boom, the twelve-year-old kids have to hunt one of the big six. If they don’t bring back a dead animal, they can’t come back. Dave wants to be an inventor instead. People are not impressed with his inventions. He invented underwear. There are five kids. Bane is best at charging like a crazy person. Gak is best at screaming. Ug is best at being a dude. Rockie is best at being a friend. Dave is best at inventing. (My favorite invention is the underwear slingshot.) The kids find a pokeyhorn. They follow their gym teacher’s rules, and they do not catch the pokeyhorn. They run away. Will they be banished to the woods forever? Will they kill a stabby-cat? Read the book to find out.
This book is a graphic novel. It’s not that hard to read. (“Impervious” is the one hard word.) I like the pictures, but the people have weird, long, stick necks. This book is good for kids who like funny cave kids. The pokeyhorn chasing them around everywhere was funny. Gak is my favorite character. I will read the sequel.
