Caterina is a mommy bird, she has a baby bird names Leo. They go together to the beach one day, and they want to see a whale although nobody can plan on it, of course. Whales happen to pass by, and you may be looking or not looking in the right directions when it happens. Caterina thinks it will not happen, but wants to help Leo anyway. So she sets the camp, and plays with Leo with crafting and shells; they have fun flying a kite, and eat lunch. They also build a big sand castle which gets destroyed by a big wave that all of a sudden comes in and gives everyone a big splash. While Caterina is busy, Leo decides to look for a whale by himself and gets far from mommy… then he gets lost. When mommy finds him they all are very happy, and they go snorkeling to look for the whale together. And at some point they see a big one. The whale looks scary but it is actually friendly and carries them on its back all around the sea. When they say goodbye the day is over and mommy and baby have had a great time.

This book has been one of my most favorites! It reminds me of all the fun things I did with my mommy and daddy at the beach during the summer. The sand castles, the picnics, the shell collecting. We never got to snorkeling for whales, though, I think it would be too scary.
